| Harpie Camp has been an
institution at the Walnut Valley festival for 4 years. It
is the moral and spiritual home of harps, harpists, and
harpies. We make a meeting place for players of harps, harps with plucked strings, not harps that people blow, nor harps that are half mechanical. However, they may come too. We have nothing against harmonicas and mechanized zithers. We want to have jam sessions that allow the harps to be heard. Well, OK, ... we would like a herd of harps too. The moment, above left, occurred, historically, when an unsuspecting harpy told a three-time winner of the Walnut Valley Autoharp Contest that an autoharp was not a harp, but a mechanized zither. |

We also enjoy silly business. Mark "Big Pants" Davis and Leon "Inhuman Strength" Peek hold mud sumo wrestling contests and disciplinary actions in front of Harpie Camp. |
